How are jobs for writers changing? Whether you’re an author, copywriter, blogger, editor, publisher, or technical professional working on behalf of those who write, we want to figure out the trend.
We’ve asked the content management system, a UGC (user generated content) platform, a news media publisher, and human resource professionals to join us for a talk about where work is going for writers.
Join us for the next MediaTech Live as we dig into publishing and content media.
We’re getting together at the WPEngine offices where they know how work is going online. Joining us:
• Michael Svatek, founder and CEO of Rivet, working in technology for UGC
• American Genius publishers, Benn and Lani Rosales with their perspective as founders of Austin Digital Jobs and BASHH
• David Schreiber, job placement entrepreneur and recruiter for Conde Nast
• Arturo Coto, long time startup adviser and VP from TabbedOut, Noonday, and as a partner in HR technology
Tonight, we’ll focus on what’s going on in publishing and how technology is changing the way we work. More?? Special guests will be breaking out our evening with tremendous insight to running news media sites, recruiting, job boards, and where Texas is headed in this regard. Ben Hartman & Dana Marruffo specializing in journalism, Jackie Dana on freelance writing & publishing, Leslie Hancock on content marketing & ghost writing!

I have started companies, led companies and helped companies expand internationally. I enjoy defining clear goals and a strategy to achieve those goals. I have experience setting up and managing: sales & marketing, market research, product development, social media management, employee & customer experience management, and customer centric operations. Having worked for a major consulting company, and sold software to all types of businesses, I have relevant experience with most industries. I provide over 20 years of executive management experience. I have established offices for The Gallup Organization in Venezuela and Brazil, was part of the founding team of Global Market Insite (acquired by WPP), was CEO of Inquisite (acquired by Allegiance) and led the marketing efforts at Tabbedout. I serve as an advisor to several companies and enjoy mentoring executives.
Formerly focused strictly on marketing, I became the Editor-in-chief in 2010 of one of the fastest growing digital magazines, and was then promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2012. The down market has pushed us to work harder and faster, and we have an extremely competitive streak inside every one of us on the team.
I co-founded and lead Rivet. Our mission is to transform people's everyday experiences by generating and displaying the authentic and riveting experiences of other people right where you and I are most likely to benefit from it -- right in the websites, stores, and social channels of businesses themselves. We call this C2C (consumer-2-consumer) marketing which will replace billions of online ads and millions of tons of junk mail in the next decade. It's good for consumers, it's good for business, and it's good for the earth.
