Is there an ideal *student* alternative to Adobe Premier Pro?
Kids student license through the school got cancelled for some reason ?
Disappointing because they’ve been doing more and more video work. Considering buying it, this isn’t a question of price, but rather being kids, are there other tools they should learn and use too?
DaVinci Resolve has become a great video editor. While some of the fancy color correction and other tools are only available via the paid version ($295) for most edit tasks the free community version it is great. https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/
The best audio tool I would look at is Audacity, which is also free and open source. https://www.audacityteam.org/
The best software to replace photoshop (and I think is even better) is Gimp. https://www.gimp.org/ It is free and open source.
Each of these can run on windows, mac, and Linux (with Linux being what I would suggest 🙂 )

You rock Tim, thank you!
Familiar with Gimp and Audacity (great recommendations though I’m hoping someone comes along with some more design thinking and recreates those as much more user friendly), but DaVinci Resolve is new to me!
