The Definitive Guide to MediaTech During SXSW 2017

With it’s origin in Music, Film, and Interactive, one can appreciate why our work in MediaTech is born of the city known for SXSW. I expect you’re looking forward to this year’s conference with as much as excitement as we have for the future of media. As the conference has grown to include more and more of the innovation and entrepreneurship that fuels our economy, it’s easy to get distracted by the amazing work being showcased in Health, 3D printing, FinTech, AI, and other fields. In case you want to focus your attention on the role of technology in media, we’ve filtered the list of official (and unofficial) events to give you a roadmap to Austin’s SXSW 2017.

MediaTech at SXSW 2017

I’ll note first that I’m not running through the mentor sessions, stages, and most of the more meetup like events; there is a seemingly endless list of wonderful opportunity and I had to draw the line somewhere. We’ll run through the list, as scheduled, and you can use a FIND to jump to topics or dates of interest to you. With just about everything we could find herein, you’ll find 450 opportunities; if we’re missing one, let us know in the comments (One this is certain, this is the year of VR).

The Lounge

One lounge among many that caught our attention is the definitive blend of media and tech – media giant Comcast joins the influencer of the future of digital in TechSet, with Stephanie Agresta, Brian Solis, to host the Social Media Lounge @SXSW. An Opportunity

One more thing before we get into the conference events. This year, SXSW has partnered with General Assembly to host at Austin’s AT&T Conference Center, a series of events throughout the weekend of March 11th. The events, both free and open to those without a badge, follow two tracks: Tech and Music.

Friday, March 10 will focus on business fundamentals for musicians (sign up here) and cover, Introduction to Coding (yes coding!), Music Licensing, Building Your Website with WordPress, Negotiating Contracts, Creating Your Visual Brand, How Relationships Can Build Your Career, Optimizing Your Social Media, and Music Finances. Saturday, March 11 and Sunday, March 12 will focus on tech and digital fundamentals for everyone (sign up here).
